Winter can be hard on your hair and skin, but Kent Brushes is here to help restore your glow. Self-care is a collection of small acts that make us feel better, stronger, and healthier – both mind and body. Having the right tools at your fingertips will help restore and repair your winter hair, skin, teeth and nails and recalibrate your inner balance.
Body or dry brushing is an ancient practice that exfoliates the skin, removes dead cells, and rejuvenates the body. It can also support lymphatic drainage, perfect if you’ve overindulged at Christmas! With a range of body brushes to choose from, you can find the one that suits you best. From a handheld option such as the FD11 to body brushes with beautiful long handles such as the FD3 or FD10 to help you stretch to those hard-to-reach places.
HOW TO BODY BRUSH
We recommend starting at your feet and moving up the length of your body. With long, smooth strokes, brush upwards in the direction of your heart, as it is said to help improve circulation. Brush as hard or lightly as you and your skin can tolerate and avoid any sensitive areas. It should be an enjoyable experience that leaves your skin tingly and bright afterwards.
Why not also explore our range of Nail Brushes? Keeping your hands and nails clean is a great way to avoid the dreaded coughs and colds that linger at this time of year.
BREATHWORK
Looking for a simple way to recalibrate in the morning and give yourself a natural boost? Why not take a few minutes to try this simple breathwork routine, especially created for us by the wonderful practitioner @breathworkwithnina
MORNING BREATHWORK ROUTINE
The goal of a morning routine is to connect and to give yourself a boost of energy, focus and calm for your day ahead.
Breathe in quietly through the nose for 4 seconds. Hold the breath for 7 seconds. Exhale through the mouth, pursing the lips and making a “whoosh’ sound for 8 seconds. Start with four cycles, but no more than 7. If you find this too challenging, try holding your breath for 6 seconds and exhale for 7 seconds.
Then, take a minute to allow your awareness to stay with your natural breath. Place a hand on your stomach, and feel the soft, gentle inhale with a longer exhale.
As the saying goes, ‘health is wealth’, so let’s care for our hair, teeth, body and mind and implement healthy and positive habits this year.
