THE LEGACY OF KENT BRUSHES
Founded in 1777, Kent Brushes has been handcrafting brushes for nearly 250 years. Since the reign of King George III to the present day, Kent Brushes has held Royal Warrants for nine consecutive reigns, cementing our reputation as the gold standard in brush making.
Kent Brushes are renowned for their commitment to quality, craftsmanship and innovation, and our hairbrushes and grooming tools are as functional as they are beautiful. Each brush represents centuries of expertise and are made using the finest materials and manufacturing techniques to create products that are built to last.
Much like Beatrix Potter’s™ stories, Kent Brushes have become part of family life, passed down through generations as both practical tools and sentimental keepsakes.
THE STORY OF BEATRIX POTTER AND PETER RABBIT™
Beatrix Potter™, born in 1866 in London, grew up immersed in art, literature, and the natural world. A gifted illustrator and natural scientist, she began writing stories in the form of picture letters for children of friends and family.

In 1893, she penned one such letter to Noel Moore, featuring a mischievous rabbit named Peter. That simple story became ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit™’, first self-published in 1901 before Frederick Warne & Co. released it to the public in 1902. It became an overnight success, selling 46,000 copies in its first year.

Over time, Beatrix wrote a total of 23 “little books”, bringing to life unforgettable characters such as Jemima Puddle-Duck™, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle™, and Benjamin Bunny™. Her works have since been translated into over 35 languages and remain beloved worldwide.
Later in life, she devoted herself to farming and conservation in the Lake District and, in the spirit of a true conservationist, left over 4,000 acres of land to the National Trust to protect for future generations.
This year (2026), the world will celebrate 160 years since her birth, honouring her as a literary genius, environmentalist, and one of Britain’s most cherished storytellers.
